Your step-by-step guide. 

Uninstalling Old Tap
Turn Off Water Supply
– Shut off hot & cold valves under the sink and open tap to release pressure

Disconnect Supply Lines
– Use a wrench to loosen nuts on flexible hoses.

Remove Tap Mounting Nuts or screws
– Under the sink, locate and unscrew the mounting nuts or brackets holding the tap to the sink 

Lift Out the Old Tap
– Pull the tap up and out from the top of the sink.

Clean Sink Surface
– Remove any old sealant or debris from the tap area.

Installing New Tap

Insert New Tap
– Carefully feed all hoses and fittings through the sink hole.

Secure Tap from Below
– Under the sink, use the supplied mounting bracket and nuts to secure the tap. See the video, there are different types

Reconnect Supply Lines
– Attach hot and cold hoses to the shut-off valves. Do not overtighten just make them snug. Try not to mix up the hot and cold, they should be marked

Check for Leaks
– Turn water supply back on slowly.
– Open the tap to let out any air and check all connections for leaks.

Tidy Up
– Ensure hoses aren't kinked. Clean any excess sealant. Also wipe up any water as it can cause damage to the cupboard.

This project is ideal for backyard patios, garden platforms, or a chill zone just outside your door. We'll show you how to get it level, stable, and ready to last !

Securing and aligning your deck posts

Tips for framing and building to code (even without a permit)

Common mistakes to avoid

Tools and materials you’ll need

🧰 Materials needed:

Concrete deck blocks

4 x4  or 6 x 6 pressure-treated or cedar deck posts 

Pressure-treated or cedar lumber for framing (2x8 or 2x10, depending on your design)

Half inch by 8 inch bolts or 5 inch lags and washers

Gravel (optional for leveling if a deck block is needed)

Screws or structural connectors rated for outdoor use

🔧 Tools Needed:

Tape measure

Speed square

Shovel

Drill/driver

Circular saw or miter saw

Level 48 inch level is best 

String line, for aligning up with other posts

Hammer and nail gun if you have one. 

Jigsaw or sawsall

💡 Because the deck is under 24 inches, it’s considered a “floating” or “freestanding” deck — no digging, no permits (in most regions), and minimal hassle. Just be sure to check your local codes to be safe!
